PUMA & Les Benjamins' SS19 Collaboration Blends Turkish Motifs With Iconic Silhouettes
East meets West.
PUMA and Istanbul-based luxury streetwear label Les Benjamins have come together to showcase Istanbul’s rich culture in their first-ever collaborative collection. Exhibited through the lens of Brooklyn photographer 13th Witness—a creative who discovered his own Turkish roots from a DNA test—and brand founder Bunyamin Aydin’s fervor for photography and travel, the Spring/Summer 2019 collection allows Western street style and Turkish cultural tradition to meet in the middle.
Fusing PUMA’s classic footwear model with the vivid colors and details of traditional Turkish carpets, Aydin retains the idea of “capturing culture through comfort.” The RS-0 Les Benjamins features PUMA’s sturdy Running System cushioning technology merged with a knitted sock construction and cross-stitch details for a traditional hand-made feel. On a second model, the two brands elevate the Thunder Disc Les Benjamins into a fashion-forward running silhouette, complete with the innovative PUMA Disc laceless technology and a Traditional Turkish carpet print graphic finish.
A variety of apparel rounds up the collection, preserving the theme while focusing on functional carrying solutions. The unisex LB x PUMA tracksuit, woven in a light premium fabric, serves a highlight piece with its stylish mesh inserts and functional pocket solutions. Other clothing articles include parkas, windbreakers, hoodies and tees alongside accessories such as backpacks, bum bags and caps.
