A few days after introducing a multi-toned Crazy BYW X collaboration with Pharrell Williams, adidas Originals teams up with GORE-TEX for a monochromatic all-black spin on the LX CON silhouette. Available only as a friends and family exclusive, adidas Originals and GORE-TEX’s collaborative LX CON is a modern rework of the iconic adidas Lexicon silhouette that was first released in the mid ’90s and gives a nod to the “hyper-functional approach” to design that that era’s creatives employed when crafting footwear. This LX CON collaboration is said to embody that spirit, although contemporary manufacturing techniques are utilized to ensure the highest levels of functionality; adidas Originals and GORE-TEX’s LX CON collaboration perfectly represents a seamless blend of function and form.
For the construction of adidas Originals and GORE-TEX’s joint offering, the shoe’s creators have chosen lightweight uppers to” play host to delicate cloth three-stripes and a technical lacing system.” A “chunky adiPRENE midsole” dominates the core of the sneaker and extends to the back of the silhouette for optimal support, while GORE-TEX technology delivers an additional layer of weather resistance. To contrast the striking jet black colorway of the latest addition to the LX CON lineup, steaks of white and blue tones provide a tasteful counter. Altogether, these qualities produce an “understated but high-performing lifestyle shoe befitting of an understated release for family and friends of the brand.”
