This 1989 Mercedes-Benz 560 "Pre-Merger" AMG Is Now up for Auction
It’s a WIDE body.

If blacked-out Mercedes-Benz vehicles are your thing, the latest auction from RM Sotheby’s is going to be of interest to you. Made in 1989, the Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC AMG 6.0 ‘Wide-Body,’ was built prior to Daimler AG’s merger with the Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher-led independent Benz tuning house.
This “pre-merger” Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC AMG features a 6.0-litre V8 with a custom quad-cam head, putting out twice the torque as the standard 5.6-litre variant. Separating this AMG from the rest is the custom front and rear fenders, and door panels — all enhanced to fit the custom wide AMG 2-piece wheels. The blacked-out look continues all throughout the exterior, and is only contrasted by the woodgrain panels in the interior.
Priced at $200,000 USD, when it was commissioned for in 1989, this Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC AMG 6.0 “Wide-Body” is now estimated to fetch between $120,000 USD – $140,000 USD at RM Sotheby’s upcoming Amelia Island Auction.
