NBA‘s All-Star Weekend dominated footwear news last week, from the long list of hardwood-related drops, to the league’s elite donning special iterations of their signature sneakers, including Kawhi Leonard debuting his first signature sneaker with New Balance. Moreover, hype around the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 reached another peak, thanks to a shock-drop that happened during his Grammy performance. Now, as we move forward into a new week of footwear drops, we’re seeing a fresh batch of returning models, updated innovations and collaborations.
Our weekly drops installment continues as we showcase releases to look for from your favorite brands, curating the most hyped releases and strongest silhouette/colorway combinations that should not be missed. Take a look at the list below and let us know what launches you’re looking forward to.
Nike LeBron 16 “Watch the Throne”
The Nike LeBron 16‘s battle knit-boasting upper sports a familiar all-black WTT inspiration throughout with details reminiscent of Givenchy’s bespoke tour merch for Hov and Ye. These floral graphics make their way back to the lacing and inner lining, while metallic gold is added to logos on the tongue, heel, side panels and outsole.
Nike Air Max 720 “Sunrise”
The forthcoming iteration of the Air Max 720 channels elements of an early Air Max Plus TN, where gradient accents highlight the dynamic lines and pockets that define the synthetic upper. TPU overlays are embedded into shaped grooves, offering flexibility in necessary areas. Lastly, the Air Max unit itself is constructed with over 70% of recycled manufactured waste.
Air Jordan 6 “Social Status”
Inspired by Jordan’s “Black Cat” alter ego, the Social Status x Air Jordan 6 combines a black snakeskin with a matching pony hair material throughout its upper. Lastly, dark concord and violet appear at the midsole, tongue, lace-lock and heel pull to complete the collaborative pair.
Nike Zoom Rookie “Galaxy”
After introducing the coveted “Galaxy” graphic back in 2012 to both the Foamposite Air One and Zoom Rookie, Nike’s cult-favorite theme returns with the Zoom Rookie. The model features a glow-in-the-dark sole, as well as its NASA-inspired hang tag and tongue branding.
Black Sheep Skate Shop x Nike SB Dunk High “Black Hornet”
This release connects Charlotte’s Black Sheep Skate Shop with Nike SB on a special Dunk High silhouette. Dubbed the “Black Hornet,” special nods to the city lie in its iridescent mix of purple and dark turquoise. The popular elephant print used on the classic Air Jordan 3 is also incorporated into the model’s toebox and heel overlays.
Air Jordan 1 “Couture”
The Air Jordan 1 is back again boasting some luxe upgrades. Dubbed “Couture,” the drop features a black premium leather upper that’s contrasted by a sail-colored sole unit and a thick red stripe that wraps around the heel, midfoot-to-midfoot. The red stamp is a nod to the intricate craftsmanship that goes into luxury cars – an appropriate addition since a few of MJ’s silhouettes are inspired by his favorite automobiles.
adidas N3XT L3V3L
This laceless, sock-like adidas N3XT L3V3L boasts a black Primeknit upper with mint green underlays. The pair allows wearers to make sharp movements with its herringbone outsole providing an extra grip. Lastly, the cushioned midsole’s support is joined by the help of a TPU plate.
Converse GOLF le FLEUR* Pack
Inspired by ’60s workwear, Tyler, The Creator‘s latest Converse drop results in two new GOLF le FLEUR* colorways. For the first time the collaborative One Star silhouette incorporates premium leather with contrasting panels and overlays. In true GOLF fashion, you’ll also find a flower patch surrounding the footwear brand’s star insignia.
