NEIGHBORHOOD & WTAPS Unveil Full Capsule Lineup (UPDATE)
Celebrating NBHD’s 25th anniversary.
UPDATE (December 30, 2019): Shortly after teasing their collaboration, NEIGHBORHOOD and WTAPS have returned to unveil the full lineup of their latest capsule. This particular collaboration celebrates NEIGHBORHOOD’s 25th anniversary, a legacy that has played an important role in shaping Japanese streetwear today.
Featured is a span of flight jackets, military shirts, hoodies, sweaters and T-shirts, highlighting stark co-branding over familiar militaristic palettes as well as monochromatic shades. One noteworthy highlight is the black and white bomber jacket, taken apart and reassembled using a mix of fabrics like leather and nylon. The front of the body has been split by leather on the right and nylon on the left, while each sides’ respective sleeves come in the contrasting textile. At the back of the right sleeve is a long white inner panel sporadically stamped with tiny “WTAPS” branding. Another highlight is the “Ripper Hoodie,” reconstructed with an asymmetrical panel that dips below the hemline at the left. The front of the garment is etched with “WTAPS” embroidery at the upper chest, complemented by the brand’s woven label above the kangaroo pocket and “NEIGHBORHOOD” at the bottom left. At the back, WTAPS’ crossbones motif is layered over a co-branded print of both logos while racing checkers appear at the side. Other pieces like the graphic T-shirts, crewnecks and field shirts round up the concise capsule.

ORIGINAL STORY (December 27, 2019): NEIGHBORHOOD founder and designer Shinsuke Takizawa has had a productive 2019 executing multiple capsule projects alongside brands like UGG, adidas, PORTER, Billionaire Boys Club and more. However, Takizawa is looking ahead at 2020 as he just recently teased a new collab for the upcoming year.
It’s not the first time WTAPS and NBHD have partnered up. In fact, it’s been a long historic and constant pairing for the two, whose founders share quite similar appreciation for military and motorcycle-inspired garb. This joint effort is particularly special, however, as it’s launching in time for NEIGHBORHOOD’s 25th anniversary — the iconic label was founded back in 1994.
WTAPS’ Tetsu Nishiyama will once again impart some of his design ethos onto NBHD and as teased by Takizawa and company on Instagram, the collective capsule will include a bomber, button shirt and tees. There could be more releasing but we’ll all have to wait on January 2, 2020 to see the entire collab. Check out some of the teased products below.
