DJ Clark Kent and Serta Team up for a New Sneaker Inspired by Matresses
For those who want to walk as comfortably as they sleep.
DJ Clark Kent is a true OG of the sneaker game with an unmatched track record, so now he’s using his decades worth of experience to help Serta enter the world of footwear with a silhouette dubbed the iC1. Yes, Serta. The company known for its uber-comfortable mattresses and ads with comical cartoon sheep.
Inspired by the cooling properties and long-lasting comfort of its iComfort mattress line, Serta’s iC1 sneaker equips the company’s patent UltraCold carbon fiber-infused memory foam and MaxCold fabric. This technology is accompanied by handmade construction: each pair was crafted by Philadelphia’s Garrixon Studios, and features premium materials like croc, ostrich and lizard-patterned leather. The design is dressed in shades of white and blue and finished with a gum outsole. Each pair is also hand-numbered and accompanied by a special mattress-shaped tag with its details.
“When I was approached by Serta, I was humbled and honored but also very intrigued. It’s not often a mattress company wants to create a shoe, but I was up for the challenge” said DJ Clark Kent. “When creating the shoe, I used all premium materials including croc, lizard and ostrich embossed leather mixed with the Serta mattress components and cooling foam. Before this project, I had never thought to put mattress material in a shoe, but it makes sense to bring the comfort and cooling of the iComfort by Serta mattress to the sneaker community.”
The DJ Clark Kent x Serta iC1 was made in unisex sizes, and will be available for pre-order on icomfortshoe.com come December 4. It’ll also release at Urban Necessities in Las Vegas and New York City on December 10. The MSRP is set at a palatable $99 USD.
Elsewhere in the world of sneakers, Kanye West‘s adidas YEEZY BOOST 700 “Carbon Blue” has been confirmed for a December 18 release.
