Shortly after dropping its fleece-lined Vans Old Skool Mule iterations, Japanese retailer BILLY’s is back, this time with a new partnership with ASICS. Featured is the ASICS GEL-Kayano OG 5, revamping the retro silhouette with a nebulous “Jupiter” iteration.
This particular release celebrates the Japanese retailer’s fifth anniversary, and the double entendres are clear with references to Jupiter, the fifth planet, as well as the number five in the silhouette’s name. Doused in soft beige, white and marbly purple palettes, the “Jupiter” sees an asymmetrical design accented with bright orange highlights on one side of both feet, contrasted with black shades on the left. The top of the tongue is embroidered with ASICS’ logo, followed by rich beige tones over the forefoot and rear quarter. Stretching all the way from the lower heel to the front toe cap, hazy pink-purple swirls cover the body of shoes. The aforementioned orange tones reflect the sun’s rays, dipping into the rear half of the DUOMAX midsole, while GEL bubbles on the lateral side of the heels finish off the vibrant design.
The exclusive GEL-Kayano 5 OG “Jupiter” is currently available at billys-tokyo.net for $151 USD.
Elsewhere, ASICS GEL-Nandi 360 “Olive Canvas” fuses durable ripstop and suede textiles.
