BILLY's Tokyo Offers Fleece-Lined Vans Old Skool Mule Colorways
Backless styles exclusive to the Japanese retailer.

Always willing to alter its classic silhouettes in pursuit of something memorable, Vans has chopped the back off of the Old Skool to create the Old Skool Mule -— an eye-catching slip-on shoe available in two tiny varieties that are exclusive to Japanese retailer BILLYS. Arriving in both a smoky grey and a rich brown, both styles offer up a cozy fit and a compelling look.
Uppers are constructed of supple suede, with white Jazz Stripes, contrast stitching and laces offering contrast. The heel is gone entirely —- a detail that makes the laces purely aesthetic -— and the footbed/liner alike are both covered in soft white fleece for a comfortable fit. White midsoles with black foxing and a classic gum outsole complete both pairs.
As any Vans aficionado knows, BILLY’s is certainly no stranger to exclusive releases. In the past month alone, it’s worked on burnished iterations of the Era and Sk8-Hi, plus an eco fur-lined take on the Slip-On LX. However, this shaggy mule Old Skool just might be its most striking exclusive of the year.
The BILLY’s Vans Old Skool Mule is available now on BILLY’s website for ¥11,000 JPY (approximately $101 USD). You’ll need to have small feet if you want to grab a pair: the largest size available translates to a US 7.
