Y-3 Adds Premium Flair to the FYW S-97
adidas’s hybrid FYW sneaker gets a high-end makeover.

Y-3 has worked its magic on adidas‘ FYW S-97, adding thoughtful details and premium materials to create the new Y-3 FW S-97. Although it’s similar in nature to the adidas Originals iteration that it draws its nom de guerre from, designer Yohji Yamamoto‘s signature aesthetic is on full display here, making for an elevated style.
Uppers are almost deconstructed in nature, featuring a thin black mesh base with cut-out black leather overlays that creep up the forefoot before connecting with the laces. If you look closely, you can also see Yamamoto’s signature embroidered in tonal black thread on the lateral side. Another leather patch graces the heel, and a suede tongue badge stamped with a Y-3 logo adds further to the style.
Down below, the FYW midsole is cored out, showing the black BOOST footbed that’s encased in its white EVA foam folds. The beefy heel strikes a bold contrast with the upper’s sleek stylings. This heel also replaces the standard FYW’s foot-shaped branding with one final Y-3 logo hit.
The adidas Y-3 FYW 97 is available now at retailers like Warsaw Sneaker Store, with an MSRP of zł1,500 PLN (approximately $389 USD).
On the other end of the high fashion sneaker spectrum, Balenciaga just released a sporty “Black/Red/Grey” colorway of its popular Track.2.
