Rick Owens has prepared a lace-heavy version of its Tecuatl Tractor Sneaker for Fall/Winter 2020. The blacked-out sneaker boots feature eight metal buckles on each side, allowing for all-over experimental lace placement.
The design is crafted from full-grain, tanned calf leather and features an abrasion-resistant finish, ideal for the rough winter months ahead. The soft leather upper is starkly contrasted with a “voluminous” tonal rubber sole, which adds some bulk to the silhouette’s shape.
In the gallery above, the sneakers are styled with a plethora of stone grey laces randomly woven across the entire upper, with most accumulating around the shoe’s throat. Some of the laces weave through the leather upper itself, while others begin their journey attached to the midsole then find their way through multiple buckles. The upper’s classic shape combined with avant-garde details like the abundance of laces and chunky midsole stay true to Owens’ iconic aesthetic, most recently cataloged in Rizzoli’s two new books on the CFDA Menswear Award-winning designer.
The Rick Owens Tecuatl Tractor sneakers are currently available over on the brand’s website for $1,466 USD.
Elsewhere in footwear, Nike has added a U.S. Army Air Cavalry-inspired boot to its range of statement winter gear.
