adidas Salutes OG UltraBOOST Style on the UltraBOOST 20 "ISS"
Flashes of the UltraBOOST’s very first colorway.
adidas is releasing more iterations of its space-inspired UltraBOOST 20 at a brisk pace, and the latest “Core Black” pair to appear provides a clever nod to the line’s genesis. Almost half a decade after its debut, the UltraBOOST has become one of adidas’s most recognizable products thanks to its signature cushioning setup, a plethora of styles and a co-sign of 2015’s “Core Black” launch colorway from one Kanye West. This updated take on that original pair offers a clever look back at half a decade of UltraBOOST — and a step towards the line’s future as well.
Black Primeknit and synthetic uppers are accented by a metallic violet hue on the midfoot cage’s Three Stripe graphic and heel clip. This simultaneously nods to the OG pair’s accents and furthers the current model’s overarching space theme. An ISS badge is stamped on the tongue, and a small hit of reddish-orange on the heel provides contrast.
Down below, a simple white BOOST footbed provides signature cushioning and support. A black Continental rubber outsole with a midfoot support shank finalizes the look. Although we’ve already seen three mostly black styles of the UltraBOOST 20, this new pair combines past and future in an undeniably appealing fashion to set itself aside from its compatriots.
