adidas YEEZY 500 HIGH "Slate" Receives Official Look and Release Date
The new silhouette arrives globally on December 16.

After months of rumors and teaser images, Kanye West and adidas have officially announced the YEEZY 500 HIGH “Slate.” The newest adidas YEEZY silhouette, it presents a high-top take on the popular YEEZY 500 — and combines West’s signature earthy palettes with a healthy dose of basketball-style flair.
Crafted from elastane and featuring leather/cow suede accents, the shoe’s upper offers a layered look that sits between sneaker and boot. Although each piece is dressed in a dark slate hue, the material differences add subtle tonal accents. The high-cut collar provides extra padding, while a rubber wrap that separates the upper from the midsole adds abrasion resistance.
Moving to the lower half, a sail-colored adiPRENE midsole brings both comfort and contrast. It also amps up the aforementioned basketball stylings, working with the high-top cut to offer shades of the adidas Crazy 8, a shoe that was once worn by Kobe Bryant. A similarly colored rubber outsole finalizes the look.
The adidas YEEZY 500 HIGH “Slate” will release via adidas.com/yeezy on December 16, exclusively in men’s sizes. The MSRP is set at $220 USD, $20 USD more than its low-top counterpart.
Elsewhere in the world of Kanye and adidas Originals, the YEEZY BOOST 700 “Carbon Blue” was confirmed for a December 18 release.
