Pokémon 'Sword' and 'Shield' Will Introduce Gigantamax Snorlax in December Event
Featuring a brand-new look for the classic Sleeping Pokémon.
Pokémon Sword and Shield have finally arrived on the Nintendo Switch, and its first event in December will introduce a new Gigantamax form for Snorlax. Beginning December 4, Max Raid Battles will feature the kaiju-sized Pokémon through early January. Snorlax will also have access to a new G-Max Replenish technique, which restores berries already eaten by a Pokémon during a battle.
Snorlax will also sport a new look, which showcases a fully built park finished with trees and routes on its stomach. Gigantamaxing is a variant of the Dynamax mechanic, which not only turns Pokémon big but takes it a step further and evolves its form even further with a new look. The ability is only available to certain Pokémon—similar to the previous Generation’s Mega Evolutions.
Max Raid Battles, which allows Trainers to capture Pokémon in their Dynamax form, can be taken on with an NPC team of four or by partnering up with folks online. Currently, players can battle and capture Gigantamax versions of Corviknight, Butterfree, and Drednaw for a limited time only.
In other gaming news, Resident Evil joins the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Spirit Board.
