Never breaking pace, Nike’s Zoom Fly 3 is moving right along with a brand-new “Blue Hero” colorway. The lightweight, high-speed Nike Running silhouette has released in everything from special Chicago Marathon-themed makeups to a tech-y “Phantom Green” style over the summer and fall months, but here it switches things up with alternate accents.
As is normal for the Zoom Fly line, the white upper is constructed of a translucent Vaporweave that shows some of the shoe’s inner workings — However, that’s where the top half’s familiarity ends. The low-slung lateral Swoosh — which usually wraps from the toebox all the way to the midfoot — rises out of the midsole nearly all the way to the collar. A small, solid Swoosh appears on the medial side, and the blue detailing that gives the shoe its name is present on the throat. The texture is upgraded as well, with both Swooshes and the heel accents featuring a multi-colored print that calls to mind images of the recycled crumb rubber that you’ll find on turf athletic fields.
Down below, the sculpted midsole features React foam for cushioning. It also equips a carbon fiber plate for the snappy responsiveness that’s become synonymous with Nike’s top-tier running shoes and recently helped Eliud Kipchoge complete a marathon in under two hours. Marbled, multicolored detailing appears on the outsole’s crash pads to complete the head-turning colorway.
You may not be able to run like Kipchoge, but you can call upon similar tech, as this Zoom Fly 3 is available now at Nike’s website in select European countries, with a retail price of $160 USD.
No word on a stateside drop just yet. However, Nike’ has confirmed a 2020 release for the React Infinity Run, a new silhouette that’s designed to reduce chronic injuries.
