Labrinth Shares Sophomore Effort 'Imagination & the Misfit Kid'
The ‘Euphoria’ lead composer and Kanye West collaborator is ending the year with a bang.

Labrinth has dropped off his first album in seven years, Imagination & the Misfit Kid via Syco Music/RCA Records. Recorded in Jimi Hendrix‘s Electric Lady Studios in New York City and RAK and AIR studios in London, the 15-track album narrates the multi-hyphenate’s story of when dreams meet business. The concept deems fit for the English artist as he caps off a crazy 2019, ending the decade with a new LSD (Labrinth, Sia, Diplo) album, work as the lead composer on Drake and HBO‘s Zendaya-starred Euphoria, co-writing and co-producing “God Is” from Kanye West‘s Jesus Is King and five Grammy nominations for “Spirit.”
“I went through a lot of massive changes. My management changed, and I was also really, really busy and I got heavily exhausted. Loads of things happened that kind of made it really difficult for me to release music and for it to be as smooth as I wanted it to be. As a result, my experience as an artist in the industry — I didn’t enjoy it. I didn’t love the music industry much because I felt like it was more about a kind of fame game than it being about music,” he said in a recent interview. “I kind of felt like I was pulled between two directions and being capitalized on. Eventually, I was just like, ‘F*ck that, I want to make music. That’s what I came in to do.’ I always believed that if I’m able to make great music then people will care again.”
