Coutié and Vans Release Old Skool "Nightmare Society" to Reflect on Social Media's Falsehoods
“They Hide a Pretty Lie. Nothing More, Nor Less.”
Coutié and Vans are back again with another Old Skool collaboration, following up to August’s “Old C Logo” release with a new edition dubbed “Nightmare Society.” Like the name implies, Coutié and Vans’ design is meant to depict the “two faces” of society, marking the styles with the key phrase “They Hide a Pretty Lie. Nothing More, Nor Less” in order to assert that often what is posted to social media is not the true reality of someone’s life.
The shoe is crafted in black suede on the upper and contrasted with a bright green stripe on the side panels. “Nightmare Society” is spelled out in block letters across the toe to reiterate the theme, while a snake emblem on the heel is intended to illustrate society’s two faces. Other details include custom white laces and a rubber outsole, while a tonal black midsole ties it all together smoothly.
To complement the sneaker, the two brands have also whipped up a mix of hoodies and T-shirts. The casual styles are offered in minimalistic base colors of black and white, while matching graphics are printed throughout.
