Reebok Debuts Zig Kinetica Cushioning With Concept Type 1 Silhouette
A lifestyle silhouette with bold new performance features.

From the Instapump Fury to DMX cushioning on models like the Question, Reebok has always pushed the limits of what’s possible in footwear tech. Now, the latest fruit of its creative labor is the brand-new Zig Kinetica system, which will debut on a silhouette dubbed the Zig Kinetica Concept Type 1.
The design was first spotted during runway shows for Reebok partners Cottweiler, Angus Chiang, and Chromat. Now, the Concept Type 1 is arriving in four bold colorways, all of which offer intricate detailing and bright accents. The stripped-back upper was conceptualized by Ian Paley of Garbstore, and features a mix of mesh and synthetics plus a bold strap over the throat.
However, it’s what’s present on the bottom half that provides this new lifestyle design with its moniker. The sliced midsole and cored-out outsole brings three cushioning technologies — Floatride Fuel, ZIG Energy Shell, and ZIG Energy Bands — together, providing comfort and support without sacrificing any style.
When asked about the Concept Type 1’s inspiration, Paley stated: “The infusion of [Reebok’s] history is of paramount importance as it relates to the design and styling cues in the shoe. The shapes, lines, panels and overall design language is a mixture of parts from many archive models, both released and unreleased. The material choices and color palette are new. The impression that the shoe is storing its energy within the sole, ready to propel you forward, coincides with the idea of using a hidden ‘heat map’ color gradient of how kinetic energy flows and is released.”
You can expect the Zig Kinetica to make its debut on November 8 via Reebok.com and select stockists.
