Nike is continuing to renovate its various classic silhouettes under its latest “Utility” line. Following through with the Air Max 97’s “SE” and “Ultra” renditions, the new take sees a more technically-aligned design being exhibited. Putting a “cold-weather spin” on the iconic style, the shoes feature synthetic panels, engineered rubber, reflective touches, as well as a re-designed, winter-ready outsole to keep with the new thematic design.
The first of the two new colorways comes in a menacing “Black/Grey” rendition, murdered-out in all-black with various grey touches found throughout. The second iteration, the “Sepia Stone/Moon Particle/Total Orange/Racer Blue” colorway, features a vibrant interplay of orange hues, black, and grey, with the Swoosh logo done in a contrasting blue. Both shoes are emblazoned by a variety of 3M layers, with an updated lacing system that furthers the utilitarian design ethos of the sneakers. Finishing off the details is a newly designed heel tab that features the “Utility” design principles–durable, traction, visibility.
