Netflix’s New Animated Film 'Klaus' Reveals Origin of Santa
From ‘Despicable Me’ co-creator Sergio Pablos.
Netflix has released a new trailer for its upcoming animated film Klaus, and in the footage above it’s revealed the movie will delve into the origins of Santa Claus. From Despicable Me co-creator Sergio Pablos comes the story of a grumpy postal worker named Jesper (Jason Schwartzman) who finds himself in the mysterious, perpetually cold town Arctic Circle.
Soon he realizes the locals are a bunch of icy individuals and a toymaker named Klaus (J.K. Simmons) is set to make them happy by spreading the joy of toys. This 2D animated feature has been applauded for its artistic direction of blending 2D animation with 3D CGI more commonly seen in contemporary films. As such, its artistic style has been described as similar to Sony’s recent Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse.
Check out the trailer above and catch Klaus in select theaters on November 8 before it appears on Netflix on November 15.
