Moneybagg Yo Has an Infatuation With Jewelry
He also talks about recording with J. Cole and being the voice of the people.
For the latest entry in our Conversations With interview series, HYPEBEAST linked up with Moneybagg Yo to discuss why jewelry is necessary in hip-hop, linking up with J. Cole in the studio to make “Say Na” off Reset and being the voice of the people.
On jewelry, Moneybagg Yo breaks down the reason why his love for jewelry runs deep and the importance of it is as a rapper. “When I first started and trying to get in the rap game, I used to wear fake jewelry because I understood the whole thing about the entertainment business,” he explains to HYPEBEAST. “You have to look like money in order to get money, so I did that. But when I got my bag together, my brother, he tatted on my face, his name is E-Low, he died and he used to always tell me, ‘Go get you some diamonds, invest in diamonds.’”
Last year, Moneybagg Yo dropped three projects, with the most recent being Reset, a 15-track release that features guest contributions from J. Cole, Future, YG, Kodak Black, Kevin Gates and others.
