'General Magic' Trailer Shows How The Company Tried Making the Smart Phone Before Apple

General Magic was lauded by some tech experts as one of the most important tech companies in Silicon Valley, ahead of contemporaries like Amazon and Apple. The trailer above is a documentary about the corporation before it fell off, and how it was attempting to create the world’s first handheld smartphone that looks very similar to the iPhone, 15 years before Apple created it.
The company was spun-off from Apple in 1990, and this film chronicles its journey to reimagine telephones and create the ultimate computer utilizing footage taken from General Magic founders and staff. Watch the trailer above.
