Former Y-3 & visvim Pattern Maker Launches Unisex Clothing Brand for SS19
Yu Haneishi debuts his first label, ANEI.
Yu Haneishi developed his skills with stints as a pattern maker at Yohji Yamamoto & Y-3 and project lead for visvim, garnering a keen eye for craft along the way. For Spring/Summer 2019, Haneishi is going his own route with ANEI, his first clothing label.
With a focus on unisex design, ANEI blends the functionality of Y-3 with an attention to detail appropriate for visvim and Yohji Yamamoto. Organic textiles promise to age alongside the wearer, with slubby linen and cotton layers offering complementary tones and relaxed, boxy cuts. Slouchy tees grant each look a laidback attitude appropriate for the lazy days of summer, often seen layered on top of each other for extra visual intrigue. Relaxed drawstring trousers aid in balancing oversized hoodies, kimono-influenced shirts and flap-pocketed jackets, all executed in pale blues, rich mustard and earthy beige. Sportswear influences, perhaps garnered from Y-3, appear in the form of a coaches jacket and track gear, with branded graphic tees showcasing an appreciation for accessible, contemporary design.
Expect ANEI’s Spring/Summer 2019 collection to arrive in mid-December, with Haneishi vocalizing interest in eventually finding overseas stockists.
