XXXtentacion's "Sad!" Breaks Spotify's Single Day Streaming Record
Shattering Taylor Swift’s previous record.
Last month without any notice, Spotify removed XXXTentacion‘s music from their playlist database after the company implemented a new “hateful conduct” policy. This eventually led to weeks of public backlash from subscribers and music power-players like Kendrick Lamar, who threatened to pull all of his music from the platform. The company would eventually pull back their policy, apologize and reinstate the late Florida rapper’s music earlier this month on June 2.
Now following the rapper’s untimely death, his music sales have not only skyrocketed upwards of 542,566%, but his 2018 album single “Sad!” has now just surpassed Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” for Spotify’s single day streaming record. X’s “Sad!” clocked in a whopping 10.4 million streams on June 19, which edged out Taylor Swift’s previous record for “Look What You Made Me Do” with 10.1 million streams on August 25, 2017.
XXXTentacion’s “SAD!” has broken the global Spotify record for biggest single day (10.4m streams on 6/19).
