Nike Recalls PlayStation x Air Force 1 Memories & Hints at a New Release
“Fans of both brands can only imagine what comes next.”

Back in 2006 Nike released a special PlayStation-inspired Air Force 1. Today the Swoosh digs into its memory bank to recall the process of creating the popular iteration. As the Swoosh recalls, the initial release was supposed to include premium leather with red laces, but as development continued, both Sony and Nike aimed to give the sneaker the shine it truly deserved. This resulted in swapping out the original leather with patent leather around its toebox, eyestay and midfoot paneling. Its original red laces were also swapped for purple while the design was rounded out by the ubiquitous PlayStation logo. The kicks would go on to be one of the most memorable AF1s of all time.
Nike has bridged the gap with the launch of the PlayStation x Nike PG2 back in February, though this nostalgic look back suggests more PlayStation-themed Nikes could be on the way. Stay tuned for what the Swoosh may have up its sleeves in regards to a surprise return of the model — or a brand new design — and let us know if you’d cop if they were to return.
