maharishi Celebrates Vietnamese Sukajan Jackets With "Loom" Capsule
Influenced by traditional techniques.

London-based label maharishi has unveiled its new “Loom” capsule, consisting of a woven jacket and poncho. Both pieces are created from striped cotton using a powerloom, and are inspired by sukajan-style jackets that were made by Vietnamese Hill Tribes using hand-loom cloths. maharishi has previously been influenced by Vietnamese tribes for its Spring/Summer 2018 collection.
The two pieces also feature hand-embroidered ’60s tour artworks, a reference to the American solders who returned from the Vietnam war with sukajan-style jackets. Other detailing includes the Buddhist mantra “Om Mani Padme Hum,” which features throughout the collection and is a reference to maharishi’s focus on pacifism and spirituality. The “Loom” capsule is available now via the maharishi web store and the label’s London flagship.
