A twist from the original.

Jordan Brand is gearing to release its AJ1 Rebel in the classic “Chicago” colorway, initially revealed in March.

The new rendition of the timeless red/black/white color scheme features its controversial twisted lacing system that extends all the way up its lateral sides. Besides the unorthodox fitment, the women-centric silhouette also utilizes a medial zipper for easy entrance — the lacing system is therefore more of a visual feature than a functional one. A black leather swoosh, white toe box, embossed wings and Jumpman insole remain true to the original “Chicago,” while an addition of a large Nike Air hit on the medial provides a new look.

The AJ1 Rebel “Chicago” arrives in women sizing on May 19 for a retail price of $145 USD. For another alternative to the original “Chicago” AJ1, Nike has released photos of a mid version as well with the classic colorway.
