Watch Onyx Collective's New Video for "Fruit Stand"
Documented by Zalmai Levat during his two week stay inside a Japan monastery.
Esteemed downtown Manhattan jazz ensemble Onyx Collective have shared a new video for “Fruit Stand” — one of the standout tracks from last year’s Lower East Suite Part One EP. Shot and edited by Zalmai Levat, the vivid shots capture candid moments in Japan where he lived for two weeks inside of a local monastery. The video was inspired by one Levat’s friends who shared a story about his three week expedition at a Japanese monastery which eventually brought Levat to Japan to shoot a video for “Fruit Stand.”
You’ll see clips of religious Japanese sculptures, kids playing freely, train conductors working, and elders enjoying their surroundings. Press play to watch above and stay tuned for the upcoming Onyx Collective full-length LP, Lower East Suite Part 3, set to arrive later this spring.
