Kendrick Lamar and SZA Are Being Sued Over "All The Stars" Video
Artist Lina Iris Viktor is seeking justice.
British-Liberian artist Lina Iris Viktor is suing Kendrick Lamar and SZA for allegedly stealing artwork to use in the “All the Stars” video, TMZ reports. Viktor’s lawyer previously sent TDE’s CEO and founder Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith a letter, stating that the visuals for the Black Panther song used her work without permission. She also wrote that she is “willing to discuss a resolution of all her claims, consisting at a minimum of a public apology for the unauthorized use and a license fee.”
In a new statement to Pitchfork, Viktor’s lawyer said: “We tried to resolve this without litigation. Now that we are in Court, we are confident that Ms. Viktor will prevail.” The lawyer also adds that they will also make sure that Kendrick and SZA cannot use Lina Iris Viktor’s artwork to promote the song
It was previously reported that Marvel contacted Viktor in November 2016 and December 2017 about using her artwork in Black Panther, but she declined both offers. When the “All the Stars” video was released, images similar to Viktor’s “Constellations” series appeared. Earlier this week, Viktor posted about the situation on Facebook
