A Closer Look at Feng Chen Wang's "The Way Home" Air Jordan 1
Home is where the heart is.
Unveiled earlier on the runway during the showing of Feng Chen Wang’s Fall/Winter 2018 collection, we now take a closer look at the surprise footwear collaboration. Coming in two different colorways, the first iteration sees black pebbled-leather uppers with bronze accents, that also have clear plastic panels sewn at the heel and toe portion of the laces. These clear panels act as pockets to contain bronze alphabet letters — this use of a clear material is reminiscent to the COMME des GARÇONS x Nike Dunk High, that when worn, allow you to see your foot inside. Other details include an icy-blue outsole bottom and fabric patch at the heel of the outsole that reads “The Way Home.”
The white pair takes a more tonal approach, where the entire sneaker dressed in white with clear panels, but the effect is different as the heel and toe portions appear more like patent leather than actual clear plastic. This NYFW has seen a number of East-West cultural exchanges and Li-Ning’s latest futuristic sneaker is no exception.
