Alongside another anime starring Lakeith Stanfield.
Continuing its efforts to produce more anime-oriented original content, Netflix has announced Legendary Pictures’ Pacific Rim and the streaming service’s own film Altered Carbon will receive their own anime adaptations in two new series. Cowboy Bebop writer Dai Sato will helm the new cyberpunk series taking place within the Altered Carbon universe while Thor: Ragnarok‘s Craig Kyle takes on Pacific Rim.
As Altered Carbon gears up for its second season, the anime will explore the world of the series and further expand its mythology while the Pacific Rim anime will see two siblings control an abandoned Jaeger as they travel to find their lost parents.
Another show announced by Netflix, Yakusa – a series based on the graphic novel of the same name – will star Lakeith Stanfield (Sorry to Bother You) as an African ronin whose drawn from retirement to care for a mysterious child in “a war-torn Japan of mechs and magic.”
It is not confirmed whether director Gurrellimo Del Toro will have a hand in adapting the Pacific Rim series, but since Netflix is producing his stop-motion project, there’s a possibility he may.
