Shabazz Palaces Bring Experimental-Funk Vibes to NPR's Latest Tiny Desk Concert
Keeping the funk alive.
In the midst of their on-going world tour, experimental jazz-funk outfit, Shabazz Palaces paid a visit to the NPR offices during a show-stop in Washington, DC over the weekend. The esteemed music duo served as the latest guests on the popular Tiny Desk Concert series following a pair of remarkable performances from Thundercat and DJ Premier. During their set, the duo experimented with some live acoustic arrangements in the backdrop as they performed their 2014 all-time classic, “Colluding Oligarchs” with the help of their bassist, Otis Calvin. Towards the end of the performance, they also blended in live renditions of “They Come in Gold” and what maybe one of the best singles of the year, “Shine a Light.”
Along with the remaining tour dates below, watch Shabazz Palaces do their NPR thing above and revisit their newest album, Quazarz vs. The Jealous Machines and Quazarz: Born On A Gangster Star now through Apple Music.
