Haider Ackermann Offers More Laid Back Luxe for Fall/Winter 2018
The master of louche style delivered another strong showing.
Haider Ackermann is known for his louche luxe designs, debuting collections exuding a sort of je ne sais quoi effortlessness through premium fabrics and graceful styling. Fall/Winter 2018 is no different, exemplifying the nonchalant looks Ackermann is known for while also progressing his designs.
This new collection sees Ackermann continuing to tinker with his military and tailoring influences, undercutting traditionally stiff motifs with thoughtful details. For instance, beige trousers and a desaturated blazer are cut loosely and styled with a gold vest, and a deep-pocketed work shirt and matching pants are cut from soft, chocolate-colored velvet. Elsewhere, the Ackermann references Asian design with yukata-style coats and cherry blossom-accented blazers. Skull caps and kimono-sleeved shirts offer similar dragon and koi fish imagery, as does a covered-placket Western shirt. These disparate influences are juxtaposed with streetwear favorites like jacquard-print bomber jackets, beanies and even slogan-bearing hoodies; a mixture that could potentially read as jarring, but instead flows easily thanks to the relaxed cuts and mostly neutral color palette, accented with bright hues.
Expect the expansive collection to release later this year at Ackermann stockists. Keep up with our continued Paris Fashion Week coverage, which so far has included shows from the likes of CMMN SWDN and Julien David.
