Earl Sweatshirt Cancels Australia Tour Dates Following Father's Death
The L.A.-based rapper was due to open for The xx.

After the news that Earl Sweatshirt‘s father — renowned South African poet and activist Keorapetse Kgositsile – had passed away aged 79, the Los Angeles-based rapper has now cancelled his upcoming Australian tour dates. Earl was set to appear alongside Kelela as support for The xx at the British band’s Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney dates.
Taking to Twitter, the tour promoter — Handsome Tours — announced the news, adding that the company “sincerely apologise to those effected by this cancellation and send our sincerest condolences to @earlxsweat at this time.” Earl’s place on the three-date tour has been filled by Perth-based singer KUČKA.
In other music news, Tyler, The Creator and Cardi B have both been named in Forbes’ 2018 Hip-Hop’s Future Moguls.
We regret to inform that, due to the recent passing of Earl Sweatshirt’s father, he must cancel his appearances as support for @The_xx this month. We sincerely apologise to those affected by this cancellation and send our sincerest condolences to @earlxsweat at this time.
