'Dark Souls: Remaster,' 'Mario Tennis Aces' & More Announced on Today's Nintendo Direct
As well as updates for a couple pre-existing titles on the Switch.
The Nintendo Switch just keeps getting better. It was revealed on today’s Nintendo Direct that the original Dark Souls is getting a remaster, a new Mario Tennis title is incoming, and that the console will see a couple of re-releases for The World Ends With You and Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze.
Dark Souls was an action RPG first released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011 to widespread acclaim for its methodical approach toward gameplay, and this sees the title’s first appearance on both a Nintendo console and a portable system. The remaster is also set to appear on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One with improved framerates and resolution. It will also include Artorias of the Abyss from the original game.
Coming this spring will be Mario Tennis Aces, which will feature both competitive gameplay as well as a story mode, the first since the Game Boy Advance title. Nintendo’s slate of re-releases also includes DS JRPG title The World Ends With You from 2008 and the infamously difficult Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze (originally for the Wii U), both of which will include new content. The World Ends with You: Final Remix will feature a new scenario and visual updates for the Switch, and Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze will offer a “beginner-friendy” mode to make the difficult gameplay bearable for newbies.
