Throughout his career, Japanese designer Takahiro Miyashita has reworked classic pieces and updated them with his own twist. The latest item to get the treatment from his The SoloIst. line is the traditional check shirt, which is reimagined with a traditional Japanese ‘haori’ style collar and internal tie system.

The shirt maintains some of the traditional Wild West elements, with pearl snap chest pockets, western yoke, and triple snap cuffs. While the shirt-meets-poncho appears to be made of a traditional check shirt material, the garment is actually made from a custom Primaloft® fabric that provides water and wind resistance.

The Check Haori shirt is available now from retailers including Canada’s Haven, with retail set at $476 USD. After you’ve taken a look at the shirt, check out the brand’s full lookbook for Fall/Winter 2017.
