Alessandro Michele kicks off Milan Fashion Week with the debut of Gucci‘s Spring/Summer 2018 collection. Hosted inside an elaborate venue decorated by mummies, sphinxes, broken columns and Grecian statues, the show, according to the press release, draws on “the act of creation as an act of resistance” – resulting in yet another dreamy Michele-ian narrative filled with lush visuals and pristine craftsmanship.

As he’s displayed in every season for the Italian luxury house to date, Michele’s latest collection employs trademark baroque design touches, ornate embellishments, bold graphics and quirky silhouettes – like something you might have dressed up in as a child while rummaging through your grandparents’ closet.

Key pieces include a collared Marlboro cigarette-inspired logo sweatshirt (slide #2), silky American flag Evel Knievel tracksuit (slide #10), “Never Marry A Mitford” knitted sweater (slide #16), green bedazzled Bugs Bunny vest (slide #27) and cream sequined Snow White sweater (slide #46). On the accessories and footwear front, take note of the various tribal shell necklaces, studded chokers, quilted fanny packs, horseshoe pool slides and embroidered oxford shoes.
