Med Students Explore the Terrors of the Afterlife in the 'Flatliners' Reboot
“You haven’t lived until you’ve died.”
Thanks in part to its cast of then up-and-comers Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon and Keifer Sutherland, 1990’s Joel Schumacher-directed Flatliners has gone on to become a cult favorite and now the psychological horror sci-fi film is getting the ol’ reboot treatment. Simply dubbed Flatliners, this new iteration of the film once again centers around the premise of medical students conducting experiments to create near-death experiences in order to explore the afterlife. Naturally, what lies beyond isn’t exactly what any of them had expected. This time around, Ellen Page, Diego Luna and Nina Dobrev star while Sutherland returns to cameo as Nelson Wright.
Helmed by Danish director Niels Arden Oplev (the man behind the original Swedish version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo), Flatliners is set to hit theaters on September 29.
