Uniqlo Fifth Avenue Transformed Into "World 1-1" for Its Nintendo UT Grand Prix 2017 Collaboration

The ‘Super Mario’/8-bit themed event was filled with ’80s gaming nostalgia.

To commemorate its UT Grand Prix 2017 collaboration with the world’s favorite gaming company Nintendo, fast retailer Uniqlo transformed its Fifth Avenue NYC flagship store to the finest detail.

The store, in addition to allowing guests to pre-purchase select items from the collection before the public, catered to fans of the retro gaming community as well as the casual entertainment seekers: Nintendo Switch consoles demoing Mario Kart and 1-2 Switch, a multiplayer 3DS station running Super Smash Bros., and nostalgic pinball and arcade games were all set to free play for the visiting guests to try. Additionally, a UFO catcher allowed for a creative way to seed parting gifts, while the drinks and delectables — including turtle shell-shaped cake pops — added an extra touch of 8-bit goodness. DJ Whutever brought the music, Victoria’s Secret model Chanel Iman graced the event with her presence, and plenty of cross-industry influentials rounded out the event highlights.

Check out the recap of the event above and visit the Uniqlo Fifth Avenue store to pick up your favorites from the collection today.
