'Fucking Young!' Looks at Post-Soviet Youth in Its Latest Editorial
Mixing high fashion with classic sportswear.
For its latest editorial, Fucking Young! has given a glimpse of youth in post-Soviet Russia. The editorial was shot and styled by Bogdan Shirokov, a photographer based between Saint Petersburg and Moscow, and blends high fashion and classic sportswear with pieces from Saint Laurent alongside pieces from brands including Ellesse, adidas, and Nike. Unsurprisingly, the editorial features some Gosha Rubchinskiy pieces, with the designer at the forefront of post-Soviet style. As well as trying to show local youths through the styling, the editorial also comes with a quote that explains the idea behind it:
Here, where once Lenin built a new state, we are spend our youth. We were born in Leningrad, but grew up in St. Petersburg. What to do when you were born on the time endless border of two states, you do not exist, you are forced to exist. Are we waiting for changes? No, we are changes. This is our Post-Soviet youth.
