Browns Launches "Just a T-Shirt" Capsule Collection
Working with P.A.M’s Misha Hollenbach, a frequent Cav Empt collaborator, and more.

Seminal London boutique Browns has launched a new capsule collection called “Just a T-Shirt.” The retailer has teamed up with a selection of artists and designers, including Perks and Mini‘s Misha Hollenbach, Canadian artist Brad Phillips, Come Tees founder Sonya Sombreuil, London-based Oliver Payne (who’s worked with the likes of Palace and Cav Empt in the past), Ken Kegami and new London brand Languages. The collection is available via BrownsFashion’s web store now, with all T-shirts retailing at £45 GBP (approximately $58 USD). We also spoke with Lee Goldup, Browns’ menswear buyer, about the collection and how it came around.
How did you go about choosing the people you worked with?
For the launch of “Just a t-shirt” we’ve worked with five international artists whose work we really admire. The process of narrowing down these artists – whose work spans a variety of mediums – was quite a challenge, but we feel that these five artists complement each other really well. To us, it was all in the mix; we’ve taken the opportunity to shine a light on some lesser known artists as well more established names. All graphics are exclusive to Browns, including the three from P.A.M which Misha Hollenbach has been kind enough to let us reissue. We are huge fans of his original work so we’re thrilled to have him form part of our launch collection.
In addition to “Just a T-Shirt” we’re also launching Languages this week – a new London based brand exclusive to Browns. Their first release consists of six brilliant tees. We’re looking forward to working with the team as the brand develops.
Why did you make a T-shirt collection?
We curated this project for one simple reason; we love graphic tees and what they represent. The simple T-shirt is a non-seasonal, genderless garment, which can be worn with just about anything. They are the pieces we all reach for day in, day out. They also make the perfect canvas — whether it’s a slogan, logo, global statement, photograph or band name, people like to wear art as a way of expressing themselves. Our customers will definitely find something that speaks to them within this first drop. With the barrier to entry relatively low, the not-so-humble T-shirt can make its way into the wardrobes of such a wide variety of people, which we’re very excited to see.Is this an ongoing thing?
“Just a T-Shirt” will be an ongoing project. We’re already developing the second iteration of the capsule, which will feature five different artists.
