Nicola Formichetti to Step Down From Diesel
After five years.

Nicola Formichetti, Diesel‘s current artistic director will be leaving his position at the label by year’s end. It was in 2013 that the Italian-Japanese designer first joined the company but he has now announced his upcoming departure on Instagram.
In the IG post, Formichetti captions a picture of him and fashion entrepreneur Renzo Rosso (who also owns Diesel amongst other brands) with the words: “All great things come to an end, and this December I will be stepping down as artistic director of @diesel. Thank you all at diesel for the most amazing 5years!! And thank you @renzorosso for allowing me to be creative. It was so much fun!!! Wishing Diesel all the best for the next chapter.”
The announcement follows Jonathan Saunders‘s own recent departure as CEO of Dian von Furstenberg. Before Diesel, Formichetti was artistic director at Mugler during 2010 to 2013. He’s also worked closely with Lady Gaga and kickstarted his career as an editor for magazines like V Magazine and Dazed & Confused. In response to the departure announcement, Renzo Rosso put in his own IG post: ”I wish you all the best for your future!”
