Here's 5 Things We Learned After Watching the 'Avengers: Infinity War' Trailer
Including the location of the final Infinity Stone.

Marvel has finally dropped the trailer for Avengers: Infinity War after two trailers premiered exclusively for San Diego Comic-Con and D23, respectively. Fans have been clamoring for the debut of a trailer ever since the film date was announced, and even more so after a few special fans got to see some live footage earlier this year. The trailer highlights a battle in Wakanda, Tony Stark meeting Doctor Strange, Spider-Man in a new suit, and a bearded Captain America. But among those images are a few glimpses of what fans can expect to see play out in the upcoming film.
Spider-Man’s Spider-Senses
Spider-Man will be involved in Avengers: Infinity War, sporting a new suit, presumably the one seen at the end of Homecoming, but what was missing in that film was his Spider-Sense ability. We see them on full display here, as the hairs on Peter’s arm rises before anyone notices the giant alien ring suspended in the air over New York. According to the director of Homecoming, Spider-Man’s Spider-Sense is meant to be an ability that develops as time goes on, akin to puberty. We also see Spider-Man getting slammed down to the ground hard by Thanos towards the tail-end of the trailer. Hopefully, his new suit and developing abilities play a part on Spider-Man’s survival in this high-scale battle.
Missing Footage From San Diego Comic Con & D23
There’s also a lot of footage from the original San Diego Comic-Con and D23 preview that didn’t make its way to the official trailer. Most noticeably, the focus on Thor and The Guardians of the Galaxy saved for the tail end of the trailer was prominently featured at the beginning of the SDCC preview and even showed extended footage of the scene. In the scene, Thor didn’t have his eyepatch from Ragnorok yet (despite the film taking place after those events), and more dialogue between the Guardians, leading to them confronting Thor floating in the vastness of space. The change in focus at the time is most likely because Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 and Thor: Ragnarok were the next films to be released. Following that logic, this trailer focuses on Wakanda and Black Panther, as his film is the next MCU movie slated to release.

Another shot missing is Star-Lord and Doctor Strange teaming up on an attack towards Thanos, where Strange uses his magic platforms to allow Star-Lord to jump higher and aim a blast at the enemy. And lastly, the last shot seen in the San Diego preview, highlighting Thanos crushing what appears to be a moon and throwing the fragments at the Avengers was cut completely from the official trailer. Maybe we’ll see these shots in the next trailer to drop.
Proxima Midnight Makes Her Debut
We also get to see an unknown individual throw a high tech spear at someone in the shadows and that person catching it. It appears the person catching it is Captain America, and the person throwing it is Proxima Midnight, one of Thanos’s Black Order associates. The Black Order is a team of aliens who work for Thanos, and no doubt he is using the group to attack earth and acquire the last Infinity Stone yet to be revealed. She’s also been seen in a few Twitter leaks containing never-before-seen footage of the film, which Marvel has been quick to pull.

The Last Infinity Stone May Have Been Revealed
Speaking of the last Infinity Stone, the Soul Stone, the trailer’s focus on Wakanda and the ensuing battle between Thanos’s minions and our heroes, gives credibility that the stone will appear in Black Panther next year. The only reason Thanos would send an army of his minions to this country is if it contains something he wants, and given that the stone only has one more movie to be introduced in before Infinity War, Black Panther is the best time to introduce it. It would also connect to Black Panther’s ability to communicate with the “Panther Gods” he sees in the trailer for his film. It’s theorized the Wakandans drew their spiritual strength from the same meteor that crashed into the country long ago, bringing metal Vibranium with it, and possibly the Soul Stone.
Loki Stole the Tesseract
And finally, we get a shot of Loki handing over the Tesseract, an Infinity Stone introduced during the first Phase of the cinematic universe. Shown in Thor: Ragnarok, fans speculated Loki took the item for himself once he saw it in Odin’s hall of treasures. However, fans are quick to point out that it appears Loki is unwillingly giving up the Tesseract, as he’s shown to have tears in his eyes as he presents it in front of someone, presumably Thanos himself.
Be sure to stay tuned for another Infinity War trailer drop, as the film is expected to release May 4, 2018.
