“A ghetto skate video meets Beyoncé’s ‘Lemonade’.”

Earlier this month, rising California rapper Chuuwee dropped off an “intermission album” known as Sabbath. A break in between releases from his Dystopia series, the project served as something “fun and light” before the complete darkness of his next full-length. Continuing to support Sabbath and his ever-growing body of work, the talented lyricist returns with a new visual for the CharLe-assisted album cut “Members Only.”

The first part of a forthcoming short film, today’s vignette serves as the inaugural installment for a creative new visual series. “This will probably end up being one of my favorite videos,” Chuuwee tells us. “Even though this album was an intermission, I took this time around to up the ante on everything: bigger sounds, better videos, sonically a bigger picture product in general.” The Below System rappers also feels that the “Members Only” clip and the short film “perfectly encompasses” his artistic evolution.

Regarding his new visual approach and its specific angles and aesthetic, Chuuwee defines everything as “a ghetto skate video meets Beyoncé’s Lemonade.” “It’s a visual experience to accompany the album,” he explains. “It takes key points of my career as well as visuals we planned to release individually for the Sabbath album but instead we turned it into a coming of age of me as an artist.”

You can check out Chuuwee’s new video — and the first section of his short film series — for “Members Only” above, and stream his latest studio album Sabbath below.
