Not to get mixed up with Walt Disney’s upcoming Beauty and the Beast film, this French adaptation directed by Christophe Gans is perhaps a more macabre version of the live-action Disney movie. The film draws its plotline from the classic La Belle et la Bête story and stars Spectre actress Léa Seydoux as Belle and Vincent Cassel as the Beast. As a whole, the trailer is chilling, action-packed and reminiscent to the visual aesthetics portrayed in James Bobin’s Alice in Wonderland series. The film was initially released in France in 2014, but has finally made its way across the pond—dropping a year before Bill Condon’s film that stars Emma Watson as Belle.

This Beauty and the Beast remake is set to hit theaters on September 29. Will Seydoux perform a better Belle than Watson?
