Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt Star in ’90s Robot Adventure ‘The Electric State’
The film is set in the aftermath of a failed robot uprising.
The first trailer for Netflix’s The Electric State is out, where, In an alternate version of the 1990s, the world has been plunged into a post-apocalyptic state following a failed robot uprising. The Electric State is based on the 2018 graphic novel of the same name by Simon Stålenhag.
Millie Bobby Brown plays Michelle, an orphaned teenager who sets out to find her brother. She’s joined by a smiley-faced robot and a smuggler Keats (Chris Pratt) and his own robot. The trailer offers a preview of a wasteland populated with robots ranging from minuscule to the size of buildings. Together, they traverse a land known as the Exclusion Zone, where the robots have been sent to live in exile.
The film is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo – collectively known as the Russo brothers – who are known for directing some of the recent Captain America and Avengers films. They’re joined on the project by screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, another duo known for their work in the MCU.
Rounding out the main cast are Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander and Woody Norman, with Giancarlo Esposito and Stanley Tucci. Anthony Mackie, Woody Harrelson, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Hank Azaria, Colman Domingo and Alan Tudyk provide voices for the robots.
