slowthai Taps James Blake and Mount Kimbie for New Song "feel away"
The new visual features the British rapper giving birth while everything is made of cake.
slowthai is back with his latest offering, a new track and music video dubbed “feel away” featuring James Blake and Mount Kimbie. The offering was recorded in Los Angeles alongside Blake while Mount Kimbie’s Dom Maker was tapped for production duties. slowthai is introspective and nostalgic for relationships past while Blake lends his signature vocals for a memorable chorus.
“This song is about the doubts we have whether it be within friendships, your partner or with our family,” slowthai said of his latest collaboration in a recent press release. “It’s about putting yourself in the other person’s shoes so you have a better understanding of the situation.” The song also comes with a coinciding music video directed by Oscar Hudson, known for his work alongside Radiohead, Young Thug, and Col3trane. The visual is shot through a first person perspective with slowthai proposing to his partner in a maternity ward before its revealed that he’s the one carrying the chid. Things get progressively stranger from there. There’s a bunch of references to the ongoing internet meme of everything being made of cake, too.
“feel away” serves as the first official single since the rapper’s critically-acclaimed debut album Nothing Great About Britain. Earlier this year, he dropped a number of high-energy singles like “BB (BODYBAG)”, the Kenny Beats produced “MAGIC”, and “ENEMY”. slowthai also teamed up with Disclosure for “My High” and Gorillaz for “Momentary Bliss”.
