Acne Studios FW25 Unravels The Everyman

Austerity and sensuality intertwine, with bold tailoring subverted by open midriffs, short shorts and exposed boxers.

“Modern man” is a heavily explored concept in mainstream fashion–he moves between the office, the gym, and the kickback seamlessly in hybrids of athleisure, streetwear, and formal attire. However, Acne Studios is less interested in where the everyman goes and more engaged in who he can be.

While building upon the multi-faceted lifestyle of today by melding formalwear and loungewear, Acne Studios incorporates traditionally feminine cues to offset hypermasculine styles. In a collection all about breaking code, the Swedish brand envisions a man whose strength lies in his porous identity.

The most traditional menswear looks include a checked two-piece suit reminiscent of the 1970s and an oversized white button-up paired with pleated black trousers. Led by familiar tailored silhouettes, like tweed jackets and pinstriped shirts, the collection offers a range of elegant pieces to combine with edgier offerings including washed denim trousers and leather pants.

Further, underdressed elements like short shorts, boxer briefs, and “Pink Gym” deep-neck tank tops add another twist to the mix. A deconstructed workout number takes the contrast to another level, styling a sleeveless logo tee over a gray hoodie with cut-off sweats over compression shorts.

Standing out with an especially subversive slant, a Chanel-esque tweed jacket is worn over a light pink gym tank with blue jeans and heavy boots. The multi-directional look is finished with an oversized heart-shaped belt buckle embossed with a special Acne Studios emblem.

With elements traditionally reserved with womenswear like open midriffs and chunky leather handbags hanging off the models’ shoulders, the entire campaign is imbued with bold confidence and playful androgyny.
