Update: Word of Jordan Brand celebrating its 40th anniversary with the return of the Air Jordan 1 Hi ‘85 “Bred” hit the net back in April. Now, while we await a first look at the sneaker, two key details have been revealed by brandon1an and Sneaker Market RO. First, it is set to release during NBA All-Star Weekend, landing on shelves on February 14 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers. As for the second element, it is the one that has stirred up curious chatter from sneakerheads — an expected price point of $250 USD. While the report notes that premium materials and special packaging are supposed to justify this 25% price increase for this version of the AJ1, this remains unconfirmed as we’ve yet to see the kicks just yet. Stay tuned for a first look and be sure to review our previous coverage below for more info about the rumored release.

Original Story: The wait is over: Jordan Brand will release the iconic Air Jordan 1 “Bred” in true-to-the-original Hi ‘85 form for the first time in 2025. The news, first reported by Sneaker Files and zsneakerheadz, comes during a time of flagging interest in the model. Arguably the hottest shoe in the Air Jordan lineup for the second half of the 2010s and the earliest part of the current decade, when seemingly every colorway would sell out on release day, Michael Jordan‘s first signature sneaker has fallen out of vogue as consumer trends turn towards more technical running footwear, the Air Jordan 1‘s supply outweighs its demand and other models in the Air Jordan lineage like the Air Jordan 4 occupy the spotlight.

However, for what’s presumably a 40th anniversary spotlight of the model, the Jumpman is bringing the big guns back. The Air Jordan 1 Hi ‘85 is Jordan Brand’s most true-to-the-original re-creation of the original model, and its “Lost & Found” colorway (a version of the OG Air Jordan 1 “Chicago”) saw great success in 2022.

Drawing its name from its black and red color scheme, this iteration of the “Bred” will feature a full leather construction for the first time since its 2016 retro (other re-releases occured in 2009, 2001 and 1994), where a “Satin” iteration was released in 2023 and a patent leather version in 2021. The photo above shows an original 1985 pair, and, at the time of writing, it seems that the re-release will not feature the artificially-aged detailing spotlighted on the aforementioned “Lost & Found.”

An exact release date and pricing information have yet to be revealed, so stay tuned for updates as they’re made available.
