The Hammer Museum in Los Angeles has released the lineup for the highly anticipated Made in L.A. biennial running from October to early January 2026. Composed of 27 artists, the exhibition will shift its focus to those working in the greater LA area.

For the seventh edition of the biennial, curators Essence Harden and Paulina Pobocha pooled a group of multigenerational artists who work across a variety of mediums. Featured works include a presentation by esteemed conceptual artist John Knight, architectural explorations by Hood Century Modern founder Jerald Cooper, a choreographic composition by Will Rawls and a stage production by Leila Weinraub and avant-garde duo New Theater Hollywood (Max Pitegoff and Calla Henkel.)

While this year’s theme has yet to be announced, the curators note that the sunny clamor and character of the city will serve as the unifying thread across all works. “From the outset of this process, our primary objective was to look at art, and to see as much of it as possible. We wanted to learn from artists and distill an exhibition from those experiences,” Harden and Pobocha shared in a joint statement.”

“While there are as many ideas circulating through the show as there are materials, an inquiry into one’s relationship to the city of Los Angeles animates much of the work we will present. Neither myth nor monolith, this city is many things to many people and its cacophonous disorder is, perhaps, its most distinguishing feature.”
