EA Just Re-Released the OG 'The Sims' and 'The Sims 2' Games
And you don’t need to drive to an Electronics Boutique to get it this time.
Electronic Arts has just re-released the very first The Sims game to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its genre-defining life simulation video game series, making it available alongside its sequel, The Sims 2, and almost all of the extra downloadable content (DLC) that ever launched for each title.
It marks the very first time the original The Sims has been available to buy or play digitally since its release in 2000 – until now, fans of the first title of the series had to track down a physical copy of the game on CD, then hope that it was compatible with their modern operating system (it usually wasn’t).
EA has brought both titles into the 2020s by making them compatible with Windows 10 and 11 and available to buy with the click of a button – a far cry from the malls and Electronics Boutiques gamers needed to physically visit to purchase the games when they originally launched. It has also promised fans that “the iconic characters, sounds, and music of some of the games” are all returning, suggesting an experience as close to Y2K as possible is in store.
You can grab The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle now for $39.99 USD via the Epic Games Store, Steam or the EA app.
